Part-Time Staff, Interns
The seasonal staff at DM play a vital role in the ministry, enthusiasm, and daily responsibilities of the camp. Their humble willingness to serve the camp and engage groups using the gifts God has given them plays a valuable and vital role in the ministry that DM is able to do with groups, families, and individuals throughout the year.
Gary Colvin - Part-time Staff
For over 38 years Gary and his wife, Becky, have loved serving the Lord in Christian adventure ministries in Missouri, Arkansas, California, Wisconsin, and North Carolina. Serving as director in two programs and now working part-time at DM, he still maintains that God's creation is an awesome way to experience the reality of Christ and His kingdom in one's life. Discovering this reality and helping others to find it, too, have been his personal and professional life's quest. Family, church, gardening, travel and reading continue to bring joy to his life.
Emma Halbach - Part-Time Staff
Emma is a recent graduate of Ozark Christian College with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry. Emma joins us alongside her husband Robert, who serves as the Office Manager. Emma has a deep passion and interest in working with people who are hurting and bringing them hope and healing. Emma has recently become a WMA Wilderness First Responder and adds that to her credentials as an instructor and an asset for our staff.
Julie Bates - Food Service Manager
Having grown up at Discovery Ministries, Julie has played many roles at the camp over the years. She is the wife of the Director and the mother of 4 wonderful children! She spends much of her time overseeing River of Life Christian School in their home and helping to serve others in the community of Eminence. We are thankful to have her filling in for us in food service this year.
Amber Cavenaugh - Cook
We are grateful Amber has joined our staff as the cook. Her culinary prowess make her an asset. Amber owns and operates a coffee shop and bakery in Eminence called Captain Jacks.
Drew Welch - Intern
Drew first encountered Discovery Ministries by taking the 10-day Wilderness Challenge in 2015 through Ozark Christian College. Following that expedition, Drew has participated in multiple other Discovery Ministries events. He attends Ozark Christian College where he is studying Intercultural Ministry, with the hopes of one day serving on the foreign mission field. Drew's natural joy adds a great deal to our staff as he joins us for his second summer.
Matt Graham - Intern
Matt is a student at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO where he is studying to be a Physics Teacher. He first heard about Discovery Ministries through a friend and joins us with desire for deep community. He is playful, athletic, and has a heart to serve others. With his experience last summer, we are thankful he is returning to join us for a second summer to continue growing as a facilitator.
Marley Butler - Intern
Marley is a graduate and former employee of Ozark Christian College, where she worked for the Admissions department. She was first introduced to DIscovery Ministries in 2014, while facilitating the Ozark Christian College Camp Teams training. Following several years of bringing Camp Teams groups and participating in a 10-day Challenge Expedition, Marley is joining us for an internship. Marley's interest in spiritual formation and the challenge-based approach of DM's wilderness ministry make her a great fit for our team!
Anna Hirner - Intern
Anna is joining us for her first summer. A recent graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, she brings with her a toolbelt of facilitative skills that have been useful in her work with groups. Anna heard about Discovery Ministries through former staff members Jeremy & Joanna Pincosy whose friendship and work with Sacred Space Ministries have led Anna to desire to be challenged this summer in her own growth and the growth of others.
Daniel Haumesser - Intern
Daniel is joining us for his first summer. A long-time friend of Discovery Ministries, Daniel's energy and simple passion for the Lord brings a great deal of encouragement to our staff. Daniel has been involved in several short term mission trips to Nicaragua in recent years and is hoping to utilize the skills he is learning at DM to return to Nicaragua for some longer-term mission work.
